Service Description
Explore a range of approaches to sampling from various sound sources to create original beats and multi-layered compositions. Students will learn how to chop samples and sequence new patterns from the slices, assemble unique drum kits from individual sounds, apply effects processing, create bass lines and more. We will use Ableton Live software alongside hardware such as turntables, synths & samplers. Schedule is as follows: Session 1: Introduction to Ableton Live: recording and trimming loops, warping Session 2: Editing one-shot samples, creating a drum rack; understanding signal chain and adding effects Session 3: MIDI sequencing, creating drum patterns, variations Session 4: Slicing audio into new patterns, considering musical form Session 5: Creating a bassline, basic sound shaping with a bass synth Session 6: Recording automations- clip triggering, filtering, mixing, effects modulation
